Sometimes life is a lot. It can feel like a storm moving through.

Maybe there’s overwhelm, uncertainty, grief, stress, anxiety, conflict, or simply too much happening all at once. In moments like that, many of us automatically start trying to make the feelings go away. We try to calm down, fix it, think our way out of it, or force ourselves to “be okay.” That’s exactly what I used to do.
But what do you do when so much feels out of your control?
I really struggled with this myself. Back in the day, I would immediately reach for cigarettes and food. I could hardly imagine what healthy coping even looked like.
Life still brings little and big storms sometimes. But today, I have a very different way of being with them. No more binges. No more cigarettes. More grounding. More connection with myself. More steadiness in the middle of hard moments.
Here is something that may be helpful:
The first step is not forcing yourself to feel better. The first step is finding some grounding, some steadiness.
Like a tree in strong wind, grounding does not mean the storm disappears or that you suddenly feel relaxed. The tree still moves. The branches still sway. The weather may still feel intense. But the roots remain connected to the earth.
This practice is an invitation to gently reconnect with that steadiness in yourself. Even just 5% more grounded. Even just a little more anchored while things feel hard.
This is not about doing it perfectly.
Just a small moment of support and connection with yourself in the middle of the storm.
You can listen to this like a meditation, or simply let the video and words wash over you… and perhaps notice a little softening, a little more steadiness, or a deeper sense of anchoring.
I hope this practice offers your nervous system a little support today.
